Warwick Open Gardens 2013
Sunday July 7.
The event raised £3700. More than 800 visitors came to view private Warwick gardens as well as the popular attraction gardens.
The organising group want s to thank all the garden owners and everyone who helped or visited for their amazing contribution.
Air Ambulance received £2600
Warwick Tree Wardens received £550 to enhance the tree planting down the Stratford Road, which is a Jubilee project. The Tree Wardens were therefore able to use bigger specimens which have a better chance of survival.
Hill Close Gardens received a similar sum to assist the restoration of one of the original garden buildings. It has gradually been transformed from pigsty to garden store to gardener's bothy over a long period from Victorian times till the present day.
It is on the plot which was tended for over 30 years by George Mills. He was a dedicated gardener and a great friend of the Gardens until his death on 31 December 2012. Restoration of the building will provide a fitting memorial for George who grew prize-winning produce on this plot and was a firm favourite with visitors to Hill Close
