Consultation has opened on the draft design and environmental statements for HS2. It lays out the potential impact of the line, including plans for mitigation and integration into the landscape. It deals with specific changes made after representations from concerned groups since the plans for phase one were published in January 2012.
The documents and forms for response can be found here. Consultation responses must be in by 11 July 2013.
Residents had asked for a tunnel to avoid the line cutting through the ancient Cubbington Wood. this has not been provided, although the proposed tunnel under Itchington Wood is to be lengthened so that it also protects the Stoneythorpe polo ground.
